Overview
Other Imaging Findings
A bone scan uses bone-seeking radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) and a computer to create a picture of the bones. It is used to:
- Show abnormal areas of bone.
- Many bone tumors will light up on a bone scan.
- See if cancer has spread to other bones (metastasis).
