Overview
MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of fibroadenoma. On a T1 weighted brain MRI image, fibroadenoma is characterized by a well-defined, isointense mass located at the upper-outer quadrant of the breast that may demonstrate calcification.
MRI
- MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of fibroadenoma.
- On MRI, fibroadenoma is characterized by a well-defined mass located at the upper-outer quadrant of the breast.
- MRI image characteristics observed among fibroadenoma patients include:
- T1 weighted image demonstrates:
- Hypointense or isointense mass
- T1 weighted image with gadolinium contrast demonstrates:
- Hyperintense mass
- T2 weighted image demonstrates:
- A slow initial contrast enhancement and a persistent delayed phase
