Natural History

Myelofibrosis has a very indolent course.^[1]

Complications

Common complications of myelofibrosis include:^[2]^[3]

Prognosis

Prognosis of myelofibrosis is poor, with slow progression and death usually within 2-3 years.^[4]

Myelofibrosis leads to progressive bone marrow failure. The mean survival is five years and causes of death include infection, bleeding, organ failure, portal hypertension, and leukemic transformation.
