Overview
Symptoms of tonsillitis include a severe sore throat (which may be experienced as referred pain to the ears), painful/ difficult swallowing, headache, fever and chills, and change in voice causing a "hot potato" voice.
Symptoms
Common symptoms of tonsillitis include:[1][2][3][4]
- sore throat
- pain when swallowing
- high temperature (fever)
- coughing
- headache
- tiredness
- chills
- swollen lymph nodes (glands) in the neck
- pain in the ears or neck
- changes to the voice or loss of voice
Less common symptoms of tonsillitis include:
Tonsil stoness occur in up to 10% of the population frequently due to episodes of tonsillitis.[5]
