Overview
The role of surgery in the treatment of drug induced liver injury is limited to liver transplanation in cases of severe, even life-threatening injury or for patients in whom there are no signs of spontaneous recovery. Otherwise, surgical intervention is not recommended given that 90% of cases of acute drug liver injury resolve without sequelae (see prognosis).
