Overview

The optimal approach for differentiating among various causes of pharyngitis requires a problemfocused history, a physical examination, and appropriate laboratory testing.[1]Symptoms develop after a short incubation period of 24 to 72 hours.[2]

Symptoms

The main symptom is a sore throat. Other symptoms may include: Viral Pharyngitis

  • Coryza
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Malaise or fatigue
  • Hoarseness
  • Lowgrade fever
