Overview
Malaria is diagnosed by complementing the clinical findings of the patient with malaria-specific diagnostic studies. PCR is being used to help with malaria elimination.
Other Diagnostic Studies
Other diagnostic studies like PCR, are being used to help with malaria elimination.
PCR
Malaria is diagnosed by complementing the clinical findings of the patient with malaria-specific diagnostic studies. PCR has recently been utilized in studies related to malaria.[1]
- ddPCR is a technology based on water oil emulsion.
- It has high sensitivity in detecting even minute number of Plasmodium species found in human body.
- It can detect all human Plasmodium types.
- It can be used for malaria elimination by the detection of asymptomatic parasites
