Overview
An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of Gastritis. Series of x-rays of the esophagus, stomach and small intestine known as the Upper gastrointestinal series or barium swallow aid in determining the condition. In barium swallow procedure, the patient is made to ingest a white liquid which contains barium. The ingested barium liquid lines the gastrointestinal tract and helps in visualizing the ulcers better when the x-ray is taken.
