Classification

• Neonatal jaundice can be classified based on the etiology of jaundice into:
  • Pathological jaundice: It can be classified based on the type of the hyperbilirubinemia into two subtypes:
    • Conjugated hyperbilirubinemia
    • Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia
  • Physiological jaundice
  • Breastfeeding jaundice
  • Hemolytic jaundice
