Overview
Duplex ultrasonograghy is often used for the evaluation of abdominal pain. However, in case of acute mesenteric ischemia its sensitivity is relatively reduced as compared to other radiological tests owing to its diagnostic limitation by the presence of air-filled distended bowel loops. Its

The use of duplex mesenteric ultrasonograghy is implemented more commonly for the diagnosis of the following:
- Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia
- More distal emboli.[1]
- Recurrent stenosis following revascularization of mesenteric vasculature .
- Screening for recurrent episode of mesenteric ischemia.
