Hypertension
Types
There are two types of Hypertension:[1]
Primary: not related to another medical condition
Secodary: Another medical condition that causes high blood pressure, including:
- Kidney disease
- Adrenal disease
- Hyperparathyroidism
- Thyroid problems
- Coarctation of Aorta
- Obstructive sleep apnea
Symptoms
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, if it's extremely high it might causes symptoms like:
- Sever headache
- Fatigue or confusion
- Blurry vision
- Chest pain
- Dyspnea
- Irregular heartbeat
- Bloody urine
- Pounding sensation in the patient's chest, neck, or ears
Risk Factors
High blood pressure has many risk factors, including:
- Age
- Race
- Family history
- Overweight and obesity
- Tobacco
- High sodium or low potassium diet
- Diabetes
- Lack of physical activity
- Stress
Complications
Uncontrolled Hypertension can cause serious problems, such as:[2]
- Heart attack or stroke
- Aneurysm
- Heart failure
- Kidney damage
- Vision problems
- Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- Hypertensive crisis
- Sexual dysfunction
