Bronchoscopy may be helpful in the diagnosis of tracheitis. Findings on a bronchoscopy suggestive of/diagnostic of tracheitis include:

• Trachea with erythema
• Trachea with edema
• Trachea with exudates that are thick or with pseudomembranes
• Inflammation
• Subglottic narrowing
