Overview
As the disease is often self-limited and treated medically, surgical interventions are not required. Surgical intervention may be considered in the case of myocarditis if the patient is unresponsive to all other medical treatments and continues to deteriorate.
Surgery
Surgical interventions have not been indicated for patients affected by Bornholm disease. Myocarditis may require surgical intervention but are also often treated medically.
- Myocarditis: Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and Beta blockers. Heart transplant is considered in cases of no recovery [1]
