The odontoma is a hamartoma (benign tumor) of odontogenic origin. The average age of people found with odontoma is 14, and it is frequently associated with an unerupted tooth. There are two types. The compound type is more common in the anterior jaws, and the complex type is more common in the posterior jaws.
