Overview
Diastolic dysfunction has had increase in the prevalence rate. The dysfunction is common in females and elderly.

Prevalence
- There is an increase in prevalence of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. [1] [2]
- Death rates have remained unchanged.
- The prevalence of diastolic dysfunction increases with age[3][4].
- It is more common in women than men[5].
