Overview
Sinus arrhythmia is a variation, either increase or decrease, of the heart rate due to changes in the sinus node. An increase or a decrease in the heart rate caused by alterations in the sinus node is termed sinus tachycardia and sinus bradycardia respectively. A subtype of sinus arrhythmia is respiratory sinus arrhythmia which refers to the normal slowing down of heart rate during expiration (breathing out) and speeding up of heart rate during inspiration.
