History
Common Symptoms
Most patients with hepatitis E, especially children with the disease, are asymptomatic, however, for those with symptomatic disease, common symptoms may include:[1][2][3]
- Prolonged cholestasis (60% patients)
- Muscle pain
- Muscle weakness
- Joint pain
- Yellowish discoloration of the eyes and skin
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Itching
- Malaise
- Lack of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Clay-colored bowel movements
- Dark-colored urine
- Skin rash
