Epidemiology and Demographics
Prevalence
The prevalence of traumatic brain injury is 59,000 per 100,000 (59%) in males in the overall population.[1]
Risk Factors
- Low Glasgow Coma Scale score
- Midline shift
- Obliteration of third ventricle
- Older age (older than 40 years)
- Petechial hemorrhages
- Pupillary non reactivity
- Repeated concussions
- Subarachnoid hemorrhage
- Worse motor function[1]
Differential Diagnosis
- Somatic symptom disorder[1]
