This 1952 image depicted the left foot of a patient, which displayed an acute tropical ulcer upon his admission to Goroka Hospital, in Goroka, New Guinea. At the time of this photograph, the lesion had been debrided, and the patient had been hospitalized for seven days. Note the healthy, pink granulation tissue lining the ulcerative base.
