Causes
- There is evidence that hepatocellular adenoma is strongly related to current and recent (first generation, high dose) oral contraceptives use.[1]
- Non-OCP-related causes of hepatocellular adenoma include:
- Familial insulin-dependent diabetes
- Fanconi anaemia
- Glycogen storage diseases
- Hormonal stimulation from other sources, for instance
- Anabolic steroid use by body builders
- Gynaecological tumors
- Pregnancy
