Overview
Patients who have a relative with hereditary diffuse gastric adenocarcinoma (HDGC) should be screened earlier for CDH1 gene mutations.[1]
Screening
- Patients who have a relative with hereditary diffuse gastric adenocarcinoma (HDGC) should be screened earlier for CDH1 gene mutations.[1]
- Indication for prophylactic gastrectomy include CDH1 positive patients.[2]
- The disease penetrance for the hereditary form is 80%, resulting in a very high risk of developing the cancer.
