Overview
Chest x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the lung. Findings on x-ray suggestive of adenocarcinoma of the lung include mass, widening of the mediastinum, atelectasis, consolidation, and pleural effusion.
X Ray
- Performing a chest x-ray is the first step if a patient reports symptoms that may be suggestive of lung cancer. Often lung cancers are picked up on a routine chest X-ray in a person experiencing no symptoms.
- X-ray may reveal an obvious mass, widening of the mediastinum (suggestive of spread to lymph nodes there), atelectasis, consolidation, or pleural effusion.
