Overview
According to the United States Preventive Services Task Force, screening for tongue cancer is not recommended.[1]
Screening
- Tongue cancer screening is not standard procedure for a health assessment. But if someone is considered at risk for tongue cancer, regular self-exams on the mouth to find unusual sores or lumps is recommended.
- If an unusual sore or lump is noticed and it persists for more than two weeks, going to a dentist or doctor and having them do a more thorough examination is recommended.
