Overview
Ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of glomus tumor. Finding on finger ultrasound suggestive of subungual glomus tumor includes subungual hypoechoic lesion at the region of maximum tenderness. Doppler ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of glomus tumor. Findings on doppler ultrasound suggestive of glomangioma include hypervascularity of the tumor.[1]
Ultrasound
- Ultrasound may be helpful in the preoperative confirmation of location and in the diagnosis of glomus tumor, particularly for the small subungual tumors.[1]
- Findings on finger ultrasound suggestive of subungual glomus tumor include subungual hypoechoic lesion at the region of maximum tenderness.[1]

Doppler Ultrasound
- Doppler ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of glomus tumor.[1]
- Preoperative imaging with doppler ultrasound helps in assessing the size, shape, and anatomical location of the tumor.[3]
- Findings on doppler ultrasound suggestive of glomus tumor include hypervascularity of the tumor.
