Overview

Surgery is not the first-line treatment option for patients with neoplastic meningitis.
Indications for surgery include:^[1]

Administration of cytotoxic drugs by placement of an intraventricular catheter and a subgaleal reservoir
Placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) in patients with symptomatic hydrocephalus
