Primary Prevention

Diagnosis and treatment of GERD may prevent Barrett's esophagus.

Control of modifiable risk factors:

  • Chronic GERD
  • Hiatal hernia
  • Elevated body mass index
  • Intra-abdominal distribution of body fat.[1]
