Compression stockings likely reduce the chance of post-phlebitic syndrome. Meta-analyses conflict regarding the role of compression stockings[1][2][3]. However, limiting meta-analysis to the trials with high compliance by patients, benefit is shown for wearing stockings for two years[3] and this is supported by a a more recent trial that isolated the benefit of the second year of wearing stockings[4].
