Overview

Infectious colitis can occur in all age groups. Individuals at high risk of developing infectious colitis or complications of infectious colitis are young children between the age of 1 to 5, the elderly, individuals with immunosuppressive disease such as HIV-positive, individuals who engage in anal sexual intercourse, individuals living in regions with poor sanitation and travelers.
