Overview
Historical Perspective
- Cases of epididymoorchitis were described in literature as early as 1841.[1]
- In 1841, A. J. Taylor described the effects of compression (i.e., applying pressure on the testicles) in the treatment of epididymitis.[1] In 1847, Wills GF suggests the same modality of treatment for orchitis.[2]
- In 1906, Francis R. Hagner describes operative treatment of acute epididymitis caused by N. gonorrhea.[3]
