Medical Therapy

Primary Treatment for H.pylori Infection

Primary Therapy Sequential Therapy
  • PPI + Clarithromycin + Amoxicillin or metronidazole

(Clarithromycin-based triple therapy)

  • 14 days

or

  • PPI or H2RA + Bismuth + Metronidazole + Tetracycline

(Bismuth quadruple therapy)

  • 10-14days
  • PPI + Amoxicillin
  • 5 days

Followed by

  • PPI + Clarithromycin + Tinidazole
  • Additional 5 days

(Alternative to clarithromycin-based triple or bismuth quadruple therapy)

Recommended treatment in the United States Requires validation in the United States before it can be recommended as a first line therapy
