Laboratory Findings
Laboratory investigation in the diagnosis of epiglottitis may include:[1][2]
- Blood culture
- Throat culture in an intubated patient may show H. influenzae or other bacteria
- Complete blood count (CBC) with differential may be remarkable for a leukocytosis with neutrophilia
- Arterial blood gases may show respiratory acidosis
