Overview
Radionuclide bone scanning may be done, but findings are not specific for Pott's disease.
Other Diagnostic Tests=
Bone Scan
Bone scan is done to rule out metastasis of malignancy which appears as multiple hot spots involving multiple vertebrae. Spinal tuberculosis can appear as a hot spot or a cold spot if the fragments are avascular.
Microbiological confirmation
CT guided biopsy is done to confirm the diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis. Demonstration of acid fast bacilli in the sample confirms the diagnosis.
