History and Symptoms
- Symptoms of Budd-Chiari syndrome include:
- Fever
- Abdominal pain
- Abdominal distension from ascites
- Lower extremity edema
- Jaundice
- Gastrointestinal bleeding from varices or portal hypertensive gastropathy
- hepatic encephalopathy.
- Patients with subacute or chronic Budd-Chiari syndrome may be asymptomatic.
