There are no primary preventive measures available for retinoblastoma.
Prevention of Retinoblastoma
There are no primary preventive measures available for retinoblastoma. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis has been performed, for families with a known germline mutation. In this procedure, embryos are fertilized using standard IVF techniques and are then biopsied at the eight cell stage. Only those embryos found to be free of the familial mutation in the retinoblastoma gene are implanted, resulting in a live birth of a healthy child.[1]
