Common risk factors in the development of linitis plastica may include:[1][2][3][4]

  • Asian race (particularly Japanese)
  • Male
  • Presence of CDH1 gene mutation
  • History of breast cancer

Less common risk factors include:

  • Low intake of dietary fiber
  • Rarely, H.pylori infection
