Overview

Other diagnostic studies for respiratoer acidosis include Pulmonary function tests, which are neccessary for the diagnosis of the chronic obstructive lung disease.

Other Diagnostic Studies

  • For the estimation of the severity of obstructive lung disease Pulmonary function test are required for the diagnosis and shows the following
    • FEV1=Forced expiratory volume in 1 second
    • It is the most commonly used index of airflow obstruction
    • FVC= Forced vital capacity
      • The ratio of FEV1.0 to forced vital capacity is reduced
    • Increase inTLC= Total lung capacity, FRC= Functional residual capacity, and RV= Residual volume in obstructive airway diseases
    • TLC=Total lung capacity is decreased in restrictive lung diseases
