Surgery

• Cystic fibrosis patients with a large pneumothorax should be admitted to the hospital for chest tube insertion. The patient should undergo surgical pleurodesis in case of recurrent large pneumothorax.
• When medical treatment of pulmonary complications fails, lung transplantation is the only option.
