Surgery

• The mainstay of treatment for Sjögren's syndrome is medical therapy. Surgery is usually reserved for patients with either:
  • Occlusion of the lacrimal puncta
  • Recurrent parotitis refractory to medical management
  • Salivary gland malignancy
  • Severe, refractory pain
