Overview
Other imaging studies for polycythemia vera include PET scan, which helps to detect metastasis in bone marrow and to follow up medical treatment.
PET scan
Positron emission tomography (PET) scan can be done to assess for hypermetabolic activity in bone marrow, lymph nodes, and other organs. PET scan can help diagnose an underlying malignancy associated with polycythemia vera, such as lymphoma.[1]
