Overview
The most common symptoms of osteosarcoma include bone pain that may worsen at night, swelling, and redness at the site of the tumor. The affected bone is not as strong as normal bones and may fracture with minor trauma (a pathological fracture).
History and Symptoms
Symptoms of osteosarcoma may be present weeks or months (occasionally longer) prior to the confirmed diagnosis. The most common related symptom are:
- Decreased movement of the affected limb
- Bone pain
- Bone fracture (may occur after what seems like a routine movement)
- Limping (if the tumor is in the leg)
- Pain when lifting (if the tumor is in the arm)
- Swelling and redness at the site of the tumor
