Overview
Common risk factors in the development of acute pancreatitis are cystic fibrosis, abdominal trauma, renal failure, SLE, family history of hypertriglyceridemia, and male gender.

Risk factors for acute pancreatitis include:
- Abdominal injury
- Alcoholism
- Cystic fibrosis
- Family history of pancreatitis
- Hypertriglyceridemia - high triglycerides
