Overview

Delirium is common in the elderly, ICU settings, and nursing home.

Epidemiology and demography

• The prevalence of delirium is approximately 23,000 per 100,000 hospitalized patients worldwide.
• Between May 2009 to August 2012, the incidence of delirium was estimated to be 8700 cases per 100,000 African-Americans in Indiana.

Age

• Delirium is more commonly observed among elderly patients, especially age> 65 year-old.

Gender
