Admission, discharge, and transfer system
In health informatics, Admission, discharge, and transfer system (ADT), "The Patient Administration standard defines the requirements and specifications to support the interoperability among clinical and non-clinical systems regarding patient encounters and administrative registries."[1] ADT feeds are event notification systems. ADT feeds may be coordinated by a regional Health information exchange (HIE).
Notifying the primary care physician at the time of admission, using the hospital's HL7 admission, discharge, transfer (ADT) message or feed may reduce hospital readmissions[2].
ADT feeds are well-received by health care providers[3][4].
Additional research is planned.
