Compression socks' are special foot and leg garments that extend above the calf to just below the knee. They are made of a densely woven elasticized fabric which is typically comprised of a blend of cotton and synthetic fibers. They provide a medium amount of compression to the feet and calf muscles that helps to increase blood flow and prevent blood clots.
Although compression socks look similar in style to regular knee-length socks, they provide the necessary amount of compression that is considered therapeutic while regular socks, regardless of their length, do not.[1]
