Signs and symptoms of thyroid disease can be related to the following: [1] [2]
Hyperthyroidism
Excess production of thyroid hormones. This would include symptoms of:
- Diarrhea
- Hair loss
- Hyperhidrosis
- Intolerance of the heat
- Motor agitation with small tremors
- Muscle weakness
- Ravenous hunger
- Tachycardia
- Warm sweaty skin
- Weight loss
Hypothyroidism
Insufficient production of thyroid hormones. Symptoms include:
- Apathy
- Bradycardia
- Constipation
- Deceleration of reflexes
- General weakness
- Hypotension
- Hypothermia with cool skin and cold intolerance
- Muscular spasms
- Paresthesias
- Psychic impairment
- Weight gain
Goiter:
An enlargement of the thyroid.
