MRI

MRI in patients with hepatitis B may be done to:

• Exclude biliary obstruction
• To assess for hepatic cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.

The MRI findings may include nodular appearance, splenomegaly and ascites in case of portal hypertension in patients with hepatic cirrhosis.

Shrunken and nodular liver that is consistent with cirrhosis-T2 weighted image
