Heart fatty acid binding protein (h-FABP) is also a small cytoplasmic protein with kinetics similar to myoglobin that is somewhat more specific for cardiac tissue over skeletal muscle.(1),(2) It, too, appears to be an independent predictor of outcomes in patients with ACS.(3)
