Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA)
Editor-In-Chief: C. Michael Gibson, M.S., M.D. [1]
Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) is a test for ischemia that is based on the observation that the affinity of the N-terminus of human albumin for cobalt is reduced in patients with myocardial ischemia.(1) Preliminary studies suggest that it is a sensitive and early detector of chest pain of ischemic etiology,(1-5) as well as of transient myocardial ischemia peri-PCI.(6),(7)
