Tc-99m

Tc-99m labeled sulfur used for functional imaging techniques provides some indication of hepatic function. The labeled colloidal compound is taken up by reticuloepithelial cells, and it is the colloidal shift to the other organs (bone marrow, spleen) containing reticuloepithelial cells that provides evidence of portal hypertension.
