Risk Factors

In addition to the obvious risks (i.e., known exposure to a patient with MDR-TB), risk factors for MDR-TB include

  • HIV infection,
  • Previous incarceration,
  • Failed TB treatment,
  • Failure to respond to standard TB treatment,
  • Relapse following standard TB treatment.
